Welcome to Seabreeze High School
Honors United States History!

Previous Weeks Calendars:

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Mrs. Sampson's U.S. History website and your U.S. History Honors course!  This website will serve to provide you with your daily/weekly/quarterly class schedule and you should reference it daily to make sure that you are keeping pace in the course.

Just as the past was strewn with fantastic individuals who made the history we will study, so do you make your own history - everyday!!!  If, together, we can make connections between the past and today, we will easily see how this knowledge can save us from repeating mistakes and help us to set our own personal course.  I challenge you to leave a legacy.  How will they remember you?  Did you choose to give, to love, to be fair and just?  Together, we will dive into the past and see who all did and did not do just that!

One of our hurdles to success is passing our End of Course exam!  I am proud to say that Seabreeze High School's U.S. History department and the awesome Seabreeze Students scored 3rd in the District behind University and Deltona.  I am challenged by this because I'm a HUGE COMPETITOR!  I want us to LEAD the District!  Although this year's scores were a 25% jump from last year's scores, my goal is for Seabreeze to score above 80% next year.  The Historymama.com website has a list of resources to help you prepare for the EOC in U.S. History and, although you think 180 days is a long time, you will be surprised at how quickly time marches on (look at the countdown to the left!).    FYI, the testing schedule has not been set just yet but, we expect it to be at the end of April or first weeks in May.   I will update this information as soon as the dates are posted.  One thing you MUST accept is the fact that nothing EVER stays the same except Taxes and TESTING DATES! ;).

Please review your class syllabus and the schedule (below) for information about what will happen during class.  You are responsible to find out what will be due if you plan to miss class.  Also, if you do have to miss class, you will be held responsible for any and all assignments as they will have been posted with plenty of time.  Please refer to your syllabus for my procedure regarding late work.

Below is a list of supplies that you will be needing for this class.  If you are able to donate a few extra of these, please let me know.  There are lots of students who need a little help from time to time.

I am so pleased to have the chance to introduce you to the adventures (and mis-adventures) of our United States History.  Our Administration has challenged us to choose one word to describe what we would like to accomplish this year.  My word is "ENGAGE".  Be thinking about what your word might be as you embark into the 2015-2016 school year!

I am your biggest fan and will work hard to provide you with everything you need to know and study to pass this course and the EOC exam.

Please scroll to find two files, the syllabus and the daily schedule.  My goal is to load each quarter of our daily schedule for you to follow.  I will edit this page as necessary.  If you plan to miss class or happen to miss because of sickness or emergency, please Email me.  You may reference this page and Volusia County guidelines for missed days will apply regarding makeup work.
